To Lead the Continual Enhancement of North Hollywood as a Flourishing and Trendsetting Center for Arts, Culture and Commerce.

What We Do

In April 2007, 168 North Hollywood property owners voted to approve the establishment of the North Hollywood Business Improvement District (NOHO BID). The NOHO BID consists of all property within an area that includes: Lankershim Boulevard between Cumpston Street and Camarillo Drive and Magnolia Boulevard from Vineland Avenue to Tujunga Avenue. It was originally a three year BID that has been renewed for an additional five years.

Since the NoHo BID was established in 2007, it has not only made the area cleaner and safer, but has also encouraged improvements to existing properties, secured several streetscape improvements that make the area more attractive and pedestrian friendly, generated positive publicity about the district and its members, and created a unified voice for property owners. Now that the BID has been renewed the board looks to further its efforts by adding marketing and events to their long list of accomplishments.

Starting in 2009 the BID and numerous volunteers began to market the cleaner and safer neighborhood to people outside the district. With the renewal, the marketing and events will not only continue into the next five years, but will become more of a priorty to get people to come experience all that NoHo has to offer. As per its core purpose, the BID, is continuing its efforts to help the arts, culture and commerce flourish in North Hollywood by focusing its marketing efforts around the businesses with arts based events, such as Hear NoHo, a monthly music night. Other ideas that the BID’s marketing committee is looking to sponsor are a farmers market, Taste of NoHo, Phantom Galleries, and Fringe Festival. With these events, new businesses opening in the area, and the established businesses, the neighborhood is becoming a destination for new residents, new business owners and people who just enjoy the arts.

The NoHo Bid was established to:

  • Keep the area safe and clean
  • Make the area more attractive for residents, employees, and visitors
  • Publicize and communicate to members
  • Create a unified voice for property owners
  • Increase property values
  • Increase business sales
  • Increase investment opportunities

The Safety Ambassador Program

The Ambassador Program provides qualified, trained and experienced security ambassadors to the BID area to supplement, not replace, other ongoing policing efforts. The program’s mission is to be the eyes and ears of the police department, aiding property owners and tenants on overall crime prevention. The purpose of the program is to assist, prevent, deter and report inappropriate and illegal activities. The NoHo BID contracts with Securitas, Inc. for this service. Some of these illegal activities include:

  • Vehicle and property vandalism
  • Trespassing
  • Drinking in public
  • Prostitution
  • Panhandling
  • Illegal vending
